Let’s Ignite Learning

At KatieB Kids, we have created our own bespoke curriculum, designed specifically to reflect our values, child-centred ethos, and vision for early years education. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we recognise that children have a hundred languages, many ways of expressing themselves, and our approach ensures that every child is seen, heard, and able to thrive in their own unique way.

Our curriculum, which we call “Let’s”, brings learning to life through six key areas, each carefully designed to spark curiosity and capture the interests of every child. Together, these areas create a balanced, joyful, and child-led environment that thoughtfully considers child development, ensuring that each child can explore, grow, and flourish in ways that are meaningful to them, reaching their true potential.

The Power of Environment

At KatieB Kids, we believe the environment is a powerful teacher.
Our open-plan spaces are thoughtfully designed to feel safe, secure, and full of possibility. Every corner invites discovery, with carefully chosen resources that nurture independence, creativity, and deep concentration. When children feel trusted to explore, the environment itself becomes a partner in their learning journey.

Let’s Play – Where Curiosity Leads, and Learning Begins

Our “Let’s” curriculum sits at the heart of everything we do, bringing together continuous provision, enhanced areas, and adult-guided invitations within one child-led philosophy. Each space and experience is designed with purpose, to spark exploration, imagination, and joyful engagement.

Our educators play a responsive role: observing closely, tuning into children’s interests, and stepping in at just the right moment to extend thinking. Whether through planned provocations or spontaneous discovery, they scaffold and support learning in ways that feel natural, meaningful, and full of wonder.

Each “Let’s” area supports different aspects of learning and development — from creativity and physical movement to problem-solving, communication, and emotional wellbeing. Together, they form a rich, balanced experience where children learn because they love to.

Supporting Every Stage of Development

Every area of our “Let’s” curriculum follows a clear developmental progression, allowing children to move forward at their own pace. Some may be taking their first steps in exploration, while others are ready for deeper challenges, and both are equally celebrated.

Our approach is inclusive, fluid, and entirely child-led. By understanding the purpose behind each area, our educators ensure every moment is intentional, making learning inspiring, meaningful, and above all, fun.

Our Approach in Action

  • Our Vision for Every Child

At KatieB Kids, we aim to nurture happy, curious, and capable children. We create an emotionally safe, inspiring environment where every child can grow, explore, and thrive.

  • How Do We Bring This to Life?

Our curriculum is child-led, built around open-ended experiences that respond to each child’s interests, strengths, and way of learning. Our spaces are carefully designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and deep engagement, with adults stepping in to support, extend, and celebrate learning at just the right moment.

  • The Difference We Strive to Make

Children leave KatieB Kids as confident, independent learners who feel secure, capable, and ready for their next stage. They are socially aware, emotionally resilient, and curious about the world—prepared not just for school, but for life.

A Window into Learning at KatieB Kids

Step up to the window at KatieB Kids, and you’ll see a space alive with curiosity, creativity, and joy. Some children are building towering block structures, negotiating shapes and balance with concentration and pride. Nearby, others are quietly observing patterns in nature, experimenting with materials, or mixing colours to bring their ideas to life. A group might be acting out stories, collaborating, and laughing as they take on new roles, while another child moves energetically across the outdoor space, climbing, running, and testing their coordination. In a cosy corner, a child takes a moment to pause, rest, or explore a favourite activity at their own pace.

Everywhere you look, children are engaged in ways that suit their personalities, strengths, and interests, exploring, discovering, and expressing themselves freely. The environment is designed to be inclusive, with visual prompts, Makaton songs, and carefully chosen resources that allow every child to participate, make choices, and succeed.

Educators play a key role as facilitators of learning, noticing each child’s interests, tuning in to their questions, and stepping in at just the right moment to extend thinking, scaffold skills, or celebrate discoveries. You might see them modelling language, demonstrating techniques, supporting collaboration, or encouraging risk-taking in a safe and thoughtful way. They are constantly observing, listening, and responding, ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their potential.

Through these experiences, learning is meaningful, joyful, and inclusive, allowing every child to grow with confidence, resilience, and a love of discovery.
