A Happy Childhood. A Home from Home.

Curious .Minds, Confident Children

Harnessing children’s natural curiosity and creativity, at KatieB Kids we use innovative activities, projects and hands-on play to explore, investigate and experiment. We spend lots of quality time enjoying nature and the great outdoors every day.

Every child is listened to and given time to explore their feelings, ideas and theories. We value of respect, empathy, freedom and democracy to support children’s mental, moral and social development - a great base for academic learning in primary school.

From babies and toddlers through to 3 and 4-year-olds, our contemporary learning programme is bespoke to each child.

Our outstanding early years educators build on individual strengths and passions, allowing children to learn at their own pace and enjoy a range of experiences from reading, science, maths and geography to yoga, art, nature and woodwork.

We know the important role our nursery plays in the lives of modern families. We work in partnership with parents, and our experts are always on hand with advice and friendly support.

Rooted in values. Shaped by play. Inspired by children.

At KatieB Kids, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, inspired, and truly seen. That’s why we’ve created a bespoke curriculum—deeply influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach—that honours children’s natural curiosity and supports them to grow into confident, creative, and capable learners.

We call it the Let’s Curriculum—because everything we do starts with an invitation to play, explore, discover and connect. Let’s Create. Let’s Investigate. Let’s Perform. Let’s Move. Let’s Rest. Let’s Discover. Each of these areas supports key aspects of children’s learning and development, and together they form a rich, engaging experience that evolves as your child grows.

In our thoughtfully designed open-plan environment, children have continuous access to high-quality resources that promote independence, imagination, and purposeful play. Our educators observe carefully, tune into each child’s interests, and step in at just the right time to extend learning or offer gentle guidance. Whether it’s baking, building, painting, investigating, or storytelling, each moment is an opportunity to nurture confidence, creativity, and joy.

Our curriculum follows a developmental progression that meets each child where they are—whether they’re just beginning to explore or are ready to apply more complex thinking. Every child’s journey is unique, and our role is to support them with respect, intention, and love.

At KatieB Kids, children play with purpose, and learn because they love it. Because that’s where the best education begins.

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” William Butler Yeats

Our Curriculum Continues Outdoors

Learning without walls, where nature fuels imagination, discovery, and joy.

Outdoor play isn’t a break from learning—it’s a powerful extension of it. Everything we do indoors through our Let’s curriculum continues outside, enriched by fresh air, open space, and the endless possibilities of the natural world.

Whether it’s storytelling beneath a tree, sorting leaves and pebbles, mark-making with mud, or building obstacle courses with loose parts, every Let’s area has its place outdoors. Children can investigate, perform, move, discover, and rest—just as they do indoors—with the added benefits of sensory stimulation, physical freedom, and emotional regulation.

We know that time outside supports children to be calmer, more focused, and more engaged. It builds confidence, resilience, independence, and wellbeing.

As staff, we model what it means to embrace outdoor learning. Our enthusiasm, preparation, and positive mindset set the tone. That means dressing for the weather and being present, playful, and ready to say “yes” to the magic of outdoor moments.

Let’s create a culture where outdoor play is not an add-on, but an essential part of every child’s learning journey.

Whatever the weather, our learning continues—joyfully, curiously, and without walls.

Active Bodies, Active Minds

Supporting physical development through energy, exploration, and active play.

Children learn best when their minds and bodies are fully engaged—and the outdoors offers endless opportunities to move, challenge themselves, and grow stronger every day.

Our educators intentionally promote physical development through active, engaging experiences. Outdoors, this means obstacle courses, large-scale construction, and imaginative movement to build core strength, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

Our equipment is designed to support this kind of development: children can swing, slide, tip, bounce, spin, climb, and run. These sensory-rich experiences also support self-regulation, confidence, and resilience.

Our skilled educators play a vital role in making this happen. They encourage challenge, and maintain a safe, stimulating environment. We embrace risk as a key part of learning—offering just the right support so children can test boundaries and build independence.

We bring energy, joy, and intention to every movement moment. Because when children move, they learn—and when they’re outdoors, they thrive.

“There are three teachers of children: Adults, other children and the physical environment. ” Loris Malaguzzi

  • What are we trying to achieve for every child?

To nurture happy, curious, and capable children by creating an emotionally safe, inspiring environment with high expectations for every child’s learning and development.
Our curriculum celebrates individuality and believes that every child can thrive with the right support and challenge.

  • How do we put our vision into action?

We deliver our curriculum through carefully planned, open-ended experiences that respond to each child’s unique schemas, interests, learning styles, and developmental needs.
The environment is intentionally designed to invite exploration, creativity, and deep engagement—with adults sensitively extending learning in response to children’s play, curiosity, and emerging skills.

  • What difference do we strive to make?

Our children leave us as confident, independent learners who feel secure, capable, and ready for the next stage of their journey.
They are emotionally resilient, socially aware, and curious about the world around them—prepared not just for school, but for life.

Sleep and Rest

We know the importance of children getting good quality, uninterrupted sleep and so work in partnership with parents to follow your child’s usual sleep routine as closely as possible.

Our relaxing sleeping rooms, have soft cotton bedding and allow children to sleep in a calm and peaceful space without disturbance.

Throughout the nursery we have quiet, cosy spaces for our children to take time for themselves, to rest, reflect and relax.

mixed age grouping in early years

Daytime Siblings

We offer a home from home, and bringing children of different ages together for parts of our day enhances this, like one big daytime family. A cooperative rather than a competitive environment is created when children with varied learning trajectories play together. Children have more freedom to develop their own strengths and abilities at the pace with which they are comfortable, without an expectation to match the behaviours and abilities as other same-age children. This reduces frustrations and children are more likely to be encouraged to focus on what they can do rather than what they can’t do.

When we bring children of varying ages together, we find that children who are settled and older often take on leadership roles and support those who are less capable and competent than they are, while at the same time building their own self-confidence and self-esteem. Learning to be helpful, patient, and tolerant supports the development of children’s social and emotional learning. Our younger, or less confident children benefit from being with nurturers, who provide them with models of behaviour that they can copy when they are ready. Introducing young children to early experiences of being nurturing, and of helping others who are different from themselves, forms an important part of our nursery value to go beyond childcare, preparing children for life.

Pick-Up Time

At home time you can chat with educators about your child’s day and receive an honest handover. You’ll find out what they’ve been enjoying and learning and be able to discuss anything that’s come up that day.

Our friendly team are also always happy to arrange a meeting, or chat on the phone or email.

In our nursery we wrap our arms to surround our children with warmth and homely comfort. We want our nursery to be an extension of our children’s home, and we do this by working closely with our parents.

Home is a place where you learn, you nourish, and you flourish, and we strive to create this for the children in our KatieB Kids family.
